English billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is close to owning 1/4 of the team from Old Trafford, allowing his INEOS company to have sporting influence in the Red Devils.
Ratcliffe was keener than rival bidder Sheikh Jassim, who withdrew his offer to buy the Premier League side after the owners refused to sell him a 100% stake in the club. That allowed the British billionaire to remain the solo buyer; ultimately, he could buy 1/4 of Manchester United from the Glazers family, as they currently own 69% of the Red Devils.

The INEOS owner is ready to pay more than the current value price of the stake and, in return, to have sporting influence – something that is very rare for minority owners.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is close to acquiring a 25% stake in Man United, sources have told ESPN.
Ratcliffe is willing to pay between £1.3 billion and £1.5bn, which would see his INEOS team have “sporting influence” at Old Trafford.
