The Royal Club will have a comfortable advance before the 2nd leg.

Real Madrid won 2-0 against Chelsea at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid in the 1st leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

The London club started surprisingly well in the first minutes of the game, and Joao Felix had a chance in 3rd minute, but Courtois saved his shot.

In the 21st minute, Vinicius Junior had a chance but shot in the middle, allowing Arrizabalaga to make a save.

Only one minute later, Karim Benzema was where he needed to be and scored in the 22nd minute after rebound inside the box after Vinicius shot.

The best chance for Chelsea to score was right after the renewal of the game as Raheem Sterling missed from inside the penalty area in the 23rd minute as his shot was too slow and allowed Thibaut to save, and the ball went for a corner.

In the second half, Kalidou Koulibaly left injured in the 55th minute and was replaced by Marc Cucurella. However, only 4 minutes later, Ben Chilwell fouled Rodrygo as he was the last player in Chelsea’s defense, and the referee showed him a red card.

The London club kept the result only 1:0 with 10 men till the 74th minute when Marco Asensio scored from the box in the bottom left corner after a pass from Vinicius Junior. Asensio replaced Rodrygo 3 minutes before his goal.

The second leg in London will be on April 18th, as Chelsea will host Brighton in a Premier League game 3 days earlier. The next match of Real will be a visit against Cadiz in La Liga on the same day.
