The Boston Red Sox fired chief exec Chaim Bloom today after 4 campaigns with ups and downs that featured a pair of last-place seasons, and this year, almost certainly, the organization will miss the playoffs.

Chaim (40), became part of the Red Sox after they fired GM Dave Dombrowski in September 2019, a season after Boston triumphed with their 4th World Series in 15 campaigns. He had small-market achievements with Tampa Bay.
But several months after he joined the Red Sox, Bloom exchanged star outfielder Mookie Betts with the LA Dodgers. The trade hung over his tenure as the organization sandwiched last-place finishes around 2021, which took Houston to 6 matches in the ALCS. The franchise have been defeated in 6 of their last 7.
Owner John Henry shared that Bloom “set the stage for the upcoming years,” but that wasn’t enough for him to keep his position as chief baseball officer in the team.
