Andrey had to make a comeback to lift the trophy as his Canadian opponent won the 1st set 6-4 after converting 2 break points from 4 chances.
In the 2nd set, only 1 break was enough for Rublev to win it and tie the result as Felix was serving to make it 6-6 and force a tiebreak but that’s exactly when Andrey secured his break and won the set.
In the final set, Rublev was better and had 6 break opportunities as he converted only 1 but that was enough because Auger-Aliassime didn’t have a single break chance in the 3rd set.
To win the tournament, Rublev eliminated Carlos Alcaraz in the ¼ finals and Taylor Fritz in the ½ finals.
Andrey Rublev’s emotional reaction as he wins his 2nd Masters title in Madrid.
He falls to the floor and covers his face.
This man is just someone you want to see succeed.
From struggling to playing some of his best tennis.
Resilience. 🥹
