This will be his first job as an NHL coach
Ryan Huska has been announced as the head coach of the Calgary Flames.
For the 47-year-old specialist, this is the first appointment as a coach in the NHL. As a player, he played one game for the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1997/98 season.
Before taking over the Calgary, he was Darryl Suter’s assistant for five seasons with the team. Suter was fired on May 1 after failing to qualify Flames for the playoffs.
Huska has experience as head coach of the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat and Adirondack Flames, as well as the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.
