Sonego shocks Rublev in 5 sets and advances to French Open 1/8 finals

Everything went smoothly for the Russian in the 1^st two sets as he won 7-5 in the 1^st set and then 6-0 in the 2^nd set.

After that, however, the Italian did what very few people thought was possible and won the clash. Sonego won 6-3 in the 3^rd set and the most competitive one 4^th after a tiebreak – 7-6 (5).

Lorenzo won the 5^th set after breaking Rublev’s serve when the Russian served to make it 4-4 and then closed the match with a 6-3 victory in the final set.

The Italian will face world number 11 Karen Khachanov in the 1/8 finals at the French Open.
