The 1st set was very competitive. Both players converted 1 break from 3 opportunities, and the winner of the set was decided after a tie-break. However, Iga trashed Naomi in the tiebreak 7-1 points to win it.
Despite the tough defeat in the tiebreak, Osaka showed a different face in the 2nd set, and this time, she dominated and closed it 6-1 after converting 3 breaks from 4 chances and also didn’t give a single break chance to Swiatek.
In the 3rd set, again Naomi started phenomenally and had 4-1 advantage and also served for the match as she had match point but Swiatek saved it and broke her serve. The Polish player continued her phenomenal run in the final set and won the last 5 games in a row to win it 7-5 and the match after 3 hours on the court.
INCREDIBLE.
World #1 and defending Iga Swiatek comes back from 2-5 0-30 in the 3rd, saves a MATCH POINT and defeats former #1 and fellow 4-time Slam champ Naomi Osaka 7-6(1), 1-6, 7-5 in three hours to reach the 3rd round at #RolandGarros.
