Minnesota record their first playoff advancement in 20 years

The Minnesota Timberwolves made history by clinching their first playoff series win in two decades, completing a remarkable 4-0 sweep of the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference first-round playoffs with a 122-116 victory.

Anthony Edwards was the catalyst for Minnesota’s triumph, erupting for 40 points, including a staggering 31 in the second half, while also contributing nine rebounds. Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a stellar performance with 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 18 points.

Despite the Suns’ valiant efforts, led by Devin Booker’s playoff career-high 49 points and Kevin Durant’s 33-point contribution, they couldn’t prevent the Timberwolves from advancing.

Minnesota now awaits the winner of the series between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semi-finals.

The victory, however, was tempered by the absence of coach Chris Finch in the closing moments of the game. Finch, the former Sheffield Sharks boss, had to be assisted off the court for treatment after a collision with his own player, Mike Conley, with just over a minute remaining.

In another playoff matchup, the Indiana Pacers seized control of their Eastern Conference first-round series against the undermanned Milwaukee Bucks with a convincing 126-113 win.

Despite the absence of injured stars Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, and an early ejection for Bobby Portis, the Bucks were unable to contain the Pacers.

Myles Turner led the charge for Indiana with 29 points, while Tyrese Haliburton, despite nursing a back problem, contributed 24 points to propel the Pacers to a commanding 3-1 series lead.
