On Thursday it was made official that the Italian will receive the suspension after being involved in gambling activities.
His head-coach Eddie Howe stated that he believes Tonali will be available for Saturday’s game against Wolverhampton, but that will not be possible after FIFA’s intervention.
“It’s difficult because we haven’t had that official confirmation as a football club yet. We’ve heard the news and speculation statement, but we haven’t had anything from the Italian authorities at the moment so we’re in limbo really waiting for that official confirmation to come through.” Howe said.
But a request from FIFA to the Italian authorities made the suspension viable immediately.
A statement from the Italian FA on Thursday confirmed the Federal Prosecutor’s Office had reached an agreement over an 18-month sanction with Tonali.
Ten of those 18 months will be ban from football, while the remaining eight will be used for ‘therapeutic plan’.
