The Sky Blues goalkeeper James Trafford, who is warming the bench lately, wants to leave the team, just 5 months after returning to Man City. He was an integral part of helping Burnley return to the EPL in the past campaign, but he has struggled to gain regular minutes after his permanent transfer to Manchester City.
James recorded 30 clean sheets last season with Burnley in the Championship – a joint all-time English league record with Port Vale in 1953-54. He was close to a deal with the Magpies during the past summer, but the Sky Blues used a matching rights clause, which allowed them to pip Newcastle to the signing of the goalkeeper, as they featured it when they sold him to Burnley 2 years ago.
But after playing for Pep Guardiola’s side in their opening 3 games in the EPL vs. Wolverhampton, Spurs, and Brighton, James lost his starting position to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italian goalkeeper joined Man City at the last possible moment after being unwanted at PSG, and that made Trafford a reserve.

Trafford had been signed as City's new No.1 before the club brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma on deadline day leaving him demoted to the No.2 spot.
