Former two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis has passed away at the age of 35.
Davis, known for his stints with the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills, was discovered deceased at his grandmother’s residence in Southwest Ranches, Florida. According to the police report, no signs of foul play were evident, and investigations are ongoing.
Davis, who earned Pro Bowl honors in consecutive seasons in 2014 and 2015, made headlines when he abruptly retired during a game with the Bills against the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018.
Throughout his 10-year career, he amassed impressive stats, including 22 interceptions, 97 passes defended, and 395 tackles. “Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Vontae Davis,” shared Colts owner Jim Irsay on X. “A great guy, teammate, player. My prayers to Vontae’s family.”

The Dolphins, who selected Davis as a first-round pick in 2009, expressed their grief: “We are heartbroken by the sudden passing of former Dolphins CB Vontae Davis and extend our deepest condolences to his family & loved ones during this difficult time.”
The Bills also conveyed their condolences: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of Vontae Davis. We are thinking of his friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time.”
