Los Blancos lost 2-3 at home and may trail by 15 points from the leader

Real Madrid shockingly lost 2-3 against Villareal in their Spanish La Liga clash and practically ‘crowned’ Barcelona as the new champion as the Catalans can be 15 points ahead on Monday if the win vs Girona with ten games to go in the season.

It looked like it would be an easy win for Real Madrid as they got the lead in the 16 minutes through an own goal from Pau Torres, but the away side equalized with an excellent goal by Samuel Chukwueze.

Real got ahead for a second time just three minutes after the break after a great solo run by Vinicius Junior, who pulled the trigger from inside the box and scored.

Villareal got back into the match in the 72 minute after a good Javier Rojas strike, which was reviewed by VAR and the goal stood on the scoresheet.

Ten minutes before the full-time whistle Villareal completed the comeback with Chukwueze’s second goal of the night.

Three minutes later the referee pointed to the penalty spot for Real Madrid after Aissa Mandi handball. VAR got into the action again to check the play and made Javier Rojas reversed his decision.
