Ex-Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has warned the current manager that his treatment of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale can lead to further problems in the future.
Ramsdale was key for the Gunners’ success in the past campaign, but he was put on the bench this season in favor of summer new addition David Raya, who joined on loan from Brentford as the London side will be obligated to buy him next summer.
While Mikel has refused to rule out reinstating Ramsdale during the season, Wenger advised Mikel that rotating goalkeepers is a recipe for unfortunate things.
“It’s an awful decision to rotate goalkeepers; it’s unclear who is at the top of the hierarchy,” the ex-French manager of the Gunners shared.
“That doesn’t have positive effects unless the hierarchy exists until you say, ‘Look, it’s 2 or 3 bad performances, and now you will go to the bench, and I give a chance to the other 1’. The hierarchy is the most important thing in that situation.”
