Toto Wolff has admitted his mistake about the ‘Wikipedia’ comments, concerning Max Verstappen’s most recent achievement of 10 straight wins.
Many were full of praise for the Dutchman, but the German shrugged off the achievement right after the Italian Grand Prix, stating that records are irrelevant.
In the wake of the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix Wolff seems to have taken his words back and given his opponent some credit.
“Well obviously, when you look at the comments in the circumstances, you can think, was it the most intelligent thing that I could have said? Then maybe not.” the Mercedes boss said.
Wolff drew comparisons with Nikki Lauda as the main source of inspiration behind his comments.
“But it’s always been my mindset. Something that I have taken from Niki – Niki gave his trophies away to get a free car wash. You won’t find a lot of memorabilia at my places either because those numbers never mattered to the two of us.” he added.
