Xabi Alonso has announced he will leave Bayer Leverkusen after the end of the current season.
He will be always part of the history of Bayer Leverkusen as he led them to their 1st ever Bundesliga trophy in the past campaign, as he also triumphed with the DFB-Pokal. Alonso also had the chance to win three trophies, but they lost the Europa League final as that was the German side’s only defeat in all tournaments.
After the phenomenal past campaign with Leverkusen, the Spaniard became favorite to replace Carlo Ancelotti in the future as the head coach of Real Madrid and it seems that the time for this to happen has come.

“The team and I agreed a few days ago that the next 2 Bundesliga matches will be my last as the manager of Bayer,” Xabi shared with the media.
His team has secured the 2nd place in the Bundesliga as Alonso final home match will be on Sunday vs. Borussia Dortmund before his final game as head coach vs. Mainz 05.
