The Buffalo Sabres have agreed terms with their main striker Zemgus Girgensons, who will stay at the club for one more year with a contract extension, worth $2.5 million.
Girgensons was on the verge of becoming a free agent on July 1, but he has put pen to paper with the team he has spent the last 9 seasons.

The 29-year-old finished the last campaign with 10 goals and 8 assists for 18 points in 80 games. Girgensons started only 41.6 percent of the games as a forward, which just underlines how Sabres’ head-coach Don Granato values his flexibility.
The Sabres main goal for the remainder of the offseason is to find a goaltender to bolster their already impressive roster.
