Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is in the list of potential replacements of current Chelsea manager Graham Potter.
The Blues are having very disappointing season so far despite being the most active club in the last two transfer windows, having spent over 600 million euros in the span of four months. Potter was appointed in September last year after Tomas Tuchel was sacked, but the initial spark of his presence quickly disappeared and now Chelsea is sitting 10th in the standings – 14 points off Top 4, which can secure them Champions League football next season.
If Potter fails to win both of his upcoming games against Leeds and Borrusia Dortmund in Champions League, he will be sacked, Spanish news agency Sport reports.
Chelsea board of directors have two options – Spanish ex-national team coach Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane. Enrique admitted that he is ready to return to club football, while Zidane was waiting to be named head coach of France after 2022 World Cup, but Didier Deschamps was confirmed on the position until Euro 2026. This means 1998 Ballon d’Or winner may be open to accept the offer from Chelsea, but French champions PSG are also looking at him to replace Christophe Galtier after the end of the season.
