New Orleans Pelicans announced that the injured power-forward Zion Williamson’s condition has been re-evaluated and he is set to remain out of play for at least two more weeks.
The Pelican’s star player will go through another medical examination then, on the basis of which a decision would be made if he is fit to play or not.
Williamson picked up a hamstring injury and hasn’t played since 2 January in a defeat against 76er.
Since then, the Pelicans have struggled, losing 20 out their next 28 games, including 10 in a row at one point. They currently sit at No.10 seed in the Western Conference.
Williamson was absent for the majority of last season and has only 29 appearances to his name this season. He’s averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game, earning him second career All-Star recognition.
The Pelicans are due to play seven games over the next two weeks and have 17 total games left in the regular season. Based on the team’s schedule, the earliest Williamson could return is on 23 March, a home game against the Hornets.
