Carlos Alcaraz secured a last four spot at the US Open after a commanding win over 12th-seeded Alexander Zverev in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday night.
The world No.1 was easily the superior side as he dominated his German opponent throughout the majority of the game.

Zverev began the match well, with the 26-year-old finding himself with a break point at 3-3. But then it all fell apart as Alcaraz not only saved the game on his serve, but also collected all 3 remaining games to clinch the set 6-3.
From then onwards, the Spaniard never looked back and produced his usual high quality tennis to dispatch his opponent.
“(If) I could have broken, it could have gone my way. It didn’t,” Zverev emphasized the importance of that moment in the seventh game. “Even though I lost the first set, I thought it was going to be a competitive match. I thought my level was there. I thought his level was there. I thought it was going to be a fun one.”
Alcaraz now faces a tough opposition in the 1/2 finals against top-ranked Russian Daniil Medvedev, who lifted the trophy in 2021. A potential final showdown with arch-rival Novak Djokovic is also on the cards as the Serb is firm favorite to surpass his 1/2 final opponent Ben Shelton.
The 20-year-old Spaniard is chasing his second consecutive title at the US Open, something that nobody has done since Roger Federer claimed 5 titles in a row during the 2004-08 period.
