The top-ranked Russian raised his concerns about the abnormal condition the players are forced to play in

Daniil Medvedev may have cruised to comfortable straight sets victory over his good friend Andrey Rublev on Wednesday, but the match was anything but easy as temperatures skyrocketed to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius), which was the hottest day in the tournament.

Medvedev had to towel off throughout the entirety of the game as the humid conditions really took its toll on the players.

“You cannot imagine,” he said. “One player (is) gonna die, and they’re gonna see.”

“The only thing that is a little bit, let’s call it dangerous, is that the question is: How far could we go?”

The 27-year-old even had to receive medical help during the second-set changeover as doctor intervened to look at the player’s breathing with a stethoscope.

“At the end of the first set, I couldn’t see the ball anymore,” Medvedev said.

The world No.3 will go against defending champions Carlos Alcaraz in the 1/2 finals in battle for a spot in the final.
