Alvarez beats Munguia by unanimous decision

Canelo Alvarez successfully defended his undisputed super middleweight belt with a unanimous decision win against Jaime Munguia: 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112. It’s 3^rd straight decision victory for Alvarez, where he knocked down his opponent.

After tonight’s victory at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo is 10-1 fighting on this particular weekend. Canelo only lost vs. Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022, challenging for the WBA light heavyweight belt. This was Canelo’s 4^th successful defense of his undisputed super middleweight title. Alvarez holds the record for most successful undisputed championship defenses in the 4-belt era with 4.

Munguia had triumphed in 8 of his past 10 bouts by stoppage, featuring a 9^th-round TKO against Ryder at the beginning of the year, but he didn’t do it against Alvarez.

This was the 1^st time 2 boxers born in Mexico competed for an undisputed championship.
