The club from Old Trafford finds itself caught in a self-destructive loop that is preventing it from going back to the best in English football. Ex-Liverpool player Jamie Carragher thinks Man United have become prisoners of their own financial decisions, unable to sell off falling footballers on huge wages.
“I believe when you are a team that spends enormous money, and those footballers are continuing to fail, you are not playing in the UCL as well, you got 1 of the biggest wages, eventually you can be the bigger spenders of the campaign, but achieve nothing,” Carragher shared.
“Liverpool and Man City are 2 of the few teams that have consistently won silverware and then spend big money. Man United will always have money because they are 1 of the biggest sides in the world, but you can’t continue to do the same and expect different results.”
🚨🗣 Jamie Carragher on Michael Carrick time at Manchester united:
"Manchester united should have learn from OGS that making an interim manager a permanent manager doesn’t always end well for them, they’re making the same mistake over and over again, I don’t know if they’re avoiding hiring an experience manager for the wages or what?"
"Carrick did well last season as every interim manager dies but, his time should be over by now"
