Oklahoma City Thunder All-Defensive guard Cason Wallace has agreed to a 5-season, 139 million dollar deal extension.
Cason, the 10th selection at the draft 3 years ago, was a 2nd-team All-Defensive player in the past campaign. Wallace averaged career highs of almost 9 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals per match, and led the league in total steals with 150.
Cason’s huge role in Oklahoma City led to the departure of longtime starting wing Luguentz Dort, who was sent to the Hawks in a cost-cutting trade during the offseason.
“As you already know, Wallace is someone we think very highly of and has performed really well for our team,” the Thunder GM Sam Presti shared. “I believe the best thing that we could do to show Cason how valuable he is for Oklahoma City is moving Dort in that trade. We could have explored different scenarios, but we did it as a gesture to him.”
Cason has played in all 48 of OKC’s postseason matches during his time with the team.
