Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was not even on the court when the Oklahoma City Thunder took control of the game and eventually defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 125-107 to take a comfortable lead in the matchup from the 2nd round in the West Conference.
Los Angeles had a 5-point lead when Shai picked up his 4th foul only moments after the start of the 2nd half, and the OKC star didn’t play again in the 3rd quarter.
By the time Shai returned to play at the beginning of the 4th quarter, Oklahoma City had secured a 13-point lead. Thunder had a 22-4 run soon after Gilgeous-Alexander was benched because of his foul problems, and that was the crucial moment that secured the triumph for the home team, which is still undefeated in the current playoffs.
“I was really happy to see how the team played even without me on the court,” Shai revealed after the victory. Despite his limited time on the court, Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 22 points as he matched Chet Holmgren, who notched the same number of points.
Shai added that no matter who plays, OKC can beat any team in the NBA.
