After almost a month of deliberation, Steve Kerr agreed to a 2-season deal to return as boss of the Golden State Warriors. The experienced head coach will manage his 13th campaign next season at the organization.
The contract will keep Steve as the highest-paid manager in the league annually. Kerr earned almost 18 million dollars in the past campaign.
Steve had a few meetings with controlling owner Joe Lacob and GM Mike Dunleavy in the last 14 days, talking about everything about the Warriors and his vision for the future of the organization.
“It was never about the salary,” a source close to the Warriors revealed. “Steve wants to lead a great basketball team.”
Golden State finished the campaign 10th in the West and was eliminated by Phoenix in the play-in, and after that, rumors were that maybe it’s time for Kerr and Golden State to separate.
“I like to be the head coach of the Warriors, but I understand,” Steve revealed after the Suns eliminated Golden State. “You can’t be a head coach at the same team forever, and sometimes it’s time for a fresh start.”
