Julian Alvarez is set to make his return to Atletico Madrid as he is in the group for tomorrow’s LaLiga game after a turbulent period defined by a failed attempt to force a move to Barca. The Argentinian striker has been reintegrated into Diego Simeone’s plans after missing significant training time and the team’s recent league match vs. Seville.
Atletico Madrid head coach revealed that Julian will be featured in the club squad for the match vs. Athletic Club tomorrow. Alvarez is back after a dramatic few weeks in which the Argentinian wanted to leave the team to join Barcelona. Still, in the end, Atletico Madrid’s president blocked any bid from the Catalan side, while Arsenal also wanted him. Still, the forward declined that offer and will remain in the Spanish capital.
Now, Simeone shared that Alvarez will be back in the squad and that he hopes that will be a lesson for the Argentinian: “Julian will be in the group for the clash vs. Athletic. Alvarez is training well, and we expect that he will return to optimal form as soon as possible.”
A potentially awkward return 😬
