Giants wide receiver Austin torn ACL and is out for campaign

New York Giants WR Calvin Austin III will miss the upcoming campaign after sustaining a torn ACL in his right knee while running a route yesterday during training camp practice.

Calvin, who is 27 years old, inked with the Giants this summer after spending the 1^st 4 seasons of his career in the league with the Steelers. The WR had 31 catches for 372 yards with 3 TDs in the past campaign.

He crumpled to the ground during a 1-on-1 drill while running step for step with CB Deonte Banks. Austin immediately grabbed his right knee as everyone realized that he had suffered a serious injury.

His team’s trainers swiftly called for a cart. His teammates all came over to wish him well before Austin was carted off.

Calvin was inked by the franchise from the Big Apple to a 1-campaign contract a few months ago as a free agent. Austin was going to play a significant role in the organization’s offense as their slot receiver, but now he won’t be able to play at all.
