Ilkay Gundogan is eager to leave current team Manchester City to join Barcelona, reports say.
The 32-year old contract expires at the end of June this year and the German international does not seem too keen to extend it above that. Instead he is considering a free transfer to Barcelona after the request manager Xavi made for him.
Gundogan has been a part of Pep Guardiola team since 2016, when he joined from Borussia Dortmund. He has made 290 appearances for the club, scoring 53 goals and providing 37 assists. Along with that he has 4 Premier League titles, 4 League Cups and a FA Cup to his name.
Barcelona currently find themselves in a difficult position regarding their financial stability. This is the reason they might be tempted to look for someone, who is a free agent just to avoid paying extra, unnecessary money.
