Italy got their first win in Euro 2024 qualifiers, beating Malta 2-0 away. On Thursday the raining European champions lost 1-2 to England, but quickly bounced back.
The Italians opened the scoring inside 15 minutes of play after a corner kick from Tonali, which was headed home by Retegui for his second goal in a row.
In the 27th minutes Matteo Pessina was in the best spot in the box and snapped a shot inside the net for 2-0.
After the break Scamacca fired a nice shot, but Henry Bonello made a fantastic save.
Italy now have three points on the second place in the group, sharing the spot with North Macedonia.
