Mancini re-appointed Italy’s head coach

Roberto Mancini officially returns to lead Italy, and Claudio Ranieri arrives as the federation’s technical director.

The president of the Italian football league, Giovanni Malagò, announced Roberto’s appointment as manager today. It marks Mancini’s return to the job he left 3 years ago, when he decided to become the boss of the Saudi Arabian national team.

“Without a doubt, Roberto is the best person to take charge of being the head coach of the Italian national team right now,” Giovanni shared with the media.

The veteran manager returns after a successful 1^st period. Mancini managed Italy for 5 years and triumphed with the European championship after defeating England in the final on penalties.

Ranieri’s appointment as technical director will bring experience after the drama lately around the Italian football federation, as  Paolo Maldini and Leonardo left after Andrea Pirlo was not appointed because of some working ties to Russia.

Former Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was also offered the position before that, but the Spaniard declined the chance to become the boss of the Italian national team after some consideration.
