Ancelotti admits to Italy head coaching job offer

Carlo Ancelotti has shared that he received an offer to coach Italy, but turned it down as he remains loyal to Brazil.

Paolo Maldini, the Italian Football Federation’s technical director during that period, played alongside Carlo and was managed by him from 2001 to 2009 at AC Milan. The ex-Rossoneri star shared with the media that he had reached out to his ex-boss about taking charge after the Italian football team failed to qualify for the World Championship for 3^rd straight time.

Explaining what happened, Carlo revealed this: “It’s not about the deal, that’s not the reason. I’m staying because I promised this to Brazil, and the people welcomed me warmly during my 1^st year.”

“I’m happy to be the head coach of Selecao,” Ancelotti added. “I’m thankful to the Italian football federation that they wanted me to lead my country, but the right decision for me is to stay where I was welcomed so warmly and given the opportunity to work.”
