In a very dramatic game, Brazil defeated Japan 2-1 after trailing 1-0 at halftime, as the winning goal was scored by Martinelli in the extra time of the match. In the next phase of the tournament, Selecao will face either Norway or the Ivory Coast.
With less than a minute until the end of the extra time, Carlo Ancelotti’s side won possession back on the edge of the Japan box, and Bruno Guimaraes slipped the ball into Martinelli, who touched the ball before scoring the winning goal.
It was a very disappointing moment for Japan as they played very well in the 1st half and also limited Brazil during the 2nd half, but Selecao kept pushing, and that was the key in the end for the triumph.
The opening goal in the clash came in the 29th minute when Kaishu Sano, with a phenomenal individual rate, scored after Casemiro’s mistake.
However, Casemiro redeemed himself in the 2nd half and tied the result in the 56th minute. When everyone expected that the game would be decided after extra time and eventually penalties, Arsenal forward Martinelli was at the right place at the right time and scored the winning goal after entering from the bench in the 2nd half.
