Cristiano Ronaldo has become the 1st footballer to score a goal at 6 different World Cup championships as Portugal trash Uzbekistan 5-0 as Cristiano scored twice for the victory.
The Portuguese superstar, who is 41 years old, had gone 10 matches without a goal in major championships – including Euro championships – after failing to score against Congo, but did it today only after 6 minutes vs. Uzbekistan as he netted the opening goal in the match. Cristiano scored again before the end of the 1st half to make it 3-0 for his nation in the 39th minute.
The goals meant that Cristiano is the 1st footballer to score in 6 different World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026).
The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner is also the 2nd-oldest scorer in the World Cup history (41 years, 138 days), behind Roger Milla in 1994 for Cameroon vs. Russia (42 years, 39 days).
His goals came after Ronaldo was criticized for failing to score in his team’s 1-1 draw vs. Congo in Portugal’s opening game, but now the experienced player showed that he can still score at the highest level.
He and Leo Messi became the only players in history to appear in 6 World Cup tournaments until now.
