England had to complete a comeback after trailing 1-0 at halftime against DR Congo, but Harry Kane’s brace in the 2nd half led to the victory for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and they advanced to the 1/8 finals of the World Cup.
The game started in the best way possible for the African country as they secured the lead in the 7th minute after Brian Cipenga received the ball inside the penalty area and, with a superb shot, opened the score.
Congo was very close to even double its lead at the end of the 1st half, but Yoane Wissa missed a huge chance.
In the 2nd half, things continued to go Congo’s way until the 75th minute when England’s captain evened the result with a header.
That wasn’t all from Harry Kane as the Bayern Munich forward scored the winning goal in the clash in the 86th minute when he received the ball and, with an amazing shot into the top right corner, made the result 2-1 for his nation.
England will face Mexico in the 1/8 finals, as the match will be held in the Mexican capital.
