Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has refused to be in a mini drama with Carlo Ancelotti after the Brazil manager suggested his side “don’t play high intensity football”.
At the press conference before Argentina’s clash vs. Austria, Lionel shared that the words from Ancelotti are compliments about his work.
“For me, that’s a positive thing that Ancelotti shared. He has complimented us, and I don’t interpret his words as negative. I know what he claimed. Since he speaks a few languages, it wasn’t entirely clear. But for me, I must say that again, it was positive rather than critical. I have no doubt about that,” Scaloni revealed.
Lionel also shared that he didn’t like the style of football that most teams now play with constant pressing. For him, defensive solidity and intelligence in transition are more important than just pressing.
Scaloni also spoke about the change in Argentina’s national team since winning the World Cup in Qatar, sharing that now young players are integrated in the team, such as Nico Paz and Giuliano Simeone, and also added that he has no doubt that the team is hungry for another triumph.
🚨 Lionel Scaloni says that the coaching staff tries to watch every game of the World Cup:
