However, Ivory Coast showed that they were not ready to give up, and Franck Kessie’s header went into the net after Simon Adingra’s assist from the corner to tie the match 1-1 in the 62nd minute.
After that moment, the Elephants were the better team on the pitch, and that led to a comeback when Sebastien Haller netted after Simon Adingra’s 2nd assist in the match in the 81st minute and gave the host nation of the tournament for the 1st time in the final minutes of the clash.

The referee gave 7 minutes extra time but Nigeria failed to score and even the result as Ivory Coast fairytale ended with the trophy in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
