Juwan Howard has agreed to a contract to become an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets.
Juwan, dismissed by Michigan in the past month after 5 campaigns as manager, joins new Brooklyn boss Jordi Fernandez’s staff.
Howard worked for 6 years as an assistant under Erik Spoelstra with the Miami Heat upon his retirement from the National Basketball Association career that featured 19 campaigns, 2 championships, and All-Star and All-NBA picks.
After his phenomenal start as Michigan boss, he was approached for head-coaching positions in the league, including Lakers – but he decided to continue his job at Wolverines, where he coached his sons Jett and Jace. Juwan led Michigan to a Sweet 16 and an Elite 8 in that period but struggled in the last 2 campaigns, having an 8-24 record that led to him being fired.
He joins assistant Steve Hetzel, who left Blazers after 3 campaigns, as the newest people on Jordi’s team.
Juwan Howard is returning to the NBA.
The former Michigan basketball head coach has agreed to join the Brooklyn Nets as an assistant coach.
