The club from the Etihad are in advanced discussions with Lille over the transfer of Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Manchester City want to buy him in the coming days after agreeing to sell Rodri to Barca. However, the French club wants over 85 million pounds for its 18-year-old star.
The Sky Blues are also interested in buying Enzo Fernandes. If they bought them both this summer, it would mean that the club has completed a trio of costly midfield signings, as they already bought Elliot Anderson from Nottingham.
Ayyoub shone this summer at the World Cup as he was a starter in 5 of his country’s 6 games in the competition as Morocco reached the ¼ finals. Bouaddi was a starter in Lille’s 2024 ECL win against Real Madrid 2 years ago, his first moment on the big stage.
Despite his young age, the Moroccan midfielder has already appeared in 88 games for his French club since his debut in October 2023, only 3 days after his 16th birthday.
Lille striker Olivier Giroud on Ayyoub Bouaddi: "He's calm, confident, staying himself! I was talking with some friends and they sent some pictures: Patrick Vieira and Sergio Busquets. They said he's a mix of both!
"He's not yet as good as Sergio Busquets technically, but still… pic.twitter.com/dEMMZsElFb
