France to play England or Senegal for a place at the semi-finals

Sublime Kylian Mbappe scored twice and set up another for ever-reliable Olivie Giroud, leading France toa 3-1 win over Poland and a place in the World Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

Mbappe was in another league yet again as he now has five goals, knowing his team is within three victories of defending its 2018 title.

France will play either England or Senegal at the quarter-finals.

Тhe Paris Saint Germaine striker scored his first in the 74th minute when he was left unmarked to blast in a long-range shot following a counterattack, before adding the second in stoppage time when Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny could only get a weak glove on another delightful shot.

Mbappe is the most productive player at the World Cup, as he also provided two assists.

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski scored Poland’s consolation from the penalty spot in second-half stoppage time.

No country has repeated as World Cup champions in six decades — since Brazil achieved the feat by claiming consecutive trophies in 1958 and 1962. Italy is the only other nation to have won two straight, in 1934 and 1938.
