Newcastle will be able to loan players from Saudi Arabia after being cleared of allegations by the other Premier League clubs.
Only 13 teams voted for ban on loaning players from same ownership, which is just one vote short of the required majority.
Strong suggestions pointed out that the Premier League was on the verge of introducing the ban, but in the end it failed to pass through.
It means teams like Newcastle can safely trade players with clubs, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
PIF, which provided 80% of funds for the Newcastle takeover, took over four of the leading Saudi Arabian clubs in June – Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad and the Magpies have been linked with players from those clubs.
The ban was supposed to be a temporary measure until the summer transfer window, before a concrete solution is being made. It affected only incoming, but not outcoming loan moves.
