The Gunners captain, Martin Odegaard, has confirmed he is facing another period on the sidelines after sustaining a new problem during the team’s European journey. The midfielder, who has already endured a stop-start campaign due to fitness problems, admitted he is “desperate” to return with Arsenal currently navigating a campaign-ending run of games.
Martin has revealed he is once again dealing with a knee problem as he pushes to return for the club from Emirates. Odegaard had already missed 6 weeks this season due to a previous knee problem before returning in the past week to begin from the 1st minute on the pitch in the FA Cup loss vs. the Saints.
The Norwegian played an hour in the FA Cup before starting vs. Sporting in the UCL, but he went down off the ball during the match in Portugal. Despite continuing for several minutes after the initial contact, the problem was significant enough to rule him out of the Gunners’ 2-1 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Odegaard is out for today’s match against Sporting Lisbon, and it is yet unknown when he will be able to return.
🗣️ Martin Ødegaard: “I had to go off during the second-half of that game in Portugal last week, feeling my knee, which is why I missed the game at the weekend.
“I caught it a little bit against Sporting, but hopefully it shouldn’t be too bad. I’m desperate to get back as soon as… pic.twitter.com/QSFYkrkKt5
