The Boston team are on a verge of history

The Boston Bruins managed to beat Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 in overtime on Thursday night.

David Pastrnak turned out to be the hero with his 57th goal of the season, which sealed Boston’s 61st victory, just one shy off the NHL record, set by Detroit in 1995-96 and Tampa Bay 2018-2019.

Charlie Coyle also scored for the Bruins, while goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 31 saves to help his team achieve a fourth consecutive win.

“I can’t give him enough credit for how he willed himself to help us win this hockey game tonight,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said.

Boston are also after Canadiens 1976-77 season record of 132 points in total. They currently sit with 127 with four games remaining.

Sam Lafferty scored the goal for Toronto in the second period, as they were actually the team to lead the way. Goaltender Ilya Samsonov saved 31 shots.

“I thought our guys played incredibly hard. It took a bit to adjust to the opponent, but that’s a big point for us,” said Toronto head coach Sheldon Keefe.

Maple Leafs host Montreal on Saturday night, while Bruins go against New Jersey at home on Saturday as well.
