Keita Bates-Diop led the Spurs with 25 points, while Keldon Johnson and Justin Champagnie each had 24. Zach Collins added another 21 to San Antonio’s tally.
The Trail Blazers were hampered by injuries as they were missing their All-Star guard Damian Lillard. Still, they managed to lead for the most part of the game. Their advantage was at its highest with 5:28 left to play in the final quarter 119-110.
However, they blew it away as Spurs disabled them from scoring in the next 4:03, bagging home plenty of 3-pointers.
After Jones netted a 3-pointer at the shot clock horn to bring the Spurs within 119-117 with 4:01 to play, Bates-Diop drizzled with quick back-to-back 3-pointers to put his team ahead.
The win offers slight consolation for Spurs as they improve on one of their worst seasons in NBA, as they record their 21st victory, which improves on their 20 wins in the 1996-97 campaign.
