Being down 2-0 in the NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs refused to give up and believed that if they played basketball the way they did the whole season, they could win any match, boss Mitch Johnson.
San Antonio did exactly that and triumphed 115-111 in Game 3 against the NY Knicks in the Big Apple as Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama became the 1st pair of teammates below age 22 to each notch at least 20 points in a Finals match.
Wemby poured in a match-high, tying 32 points to go with 8 boards, 6 assists, and 3 blocks, while Stephon had 23 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists as the Spurs ended the Knicks’ 13-match playoff winning streak.
“I tried everything to remain calm,” the Spurs’ French superstar shared after the victory as he joined Tim Duncan as the only other San Antonio basketballer to notch 25 points or more in 3 straight Finals matches.
President Donald Trump was in attendance as he watched the match from the suite of New York owner James Dolan, becoming the 1st sitting president to attend an NBA Finals match.
