The New York Knicks wrote history in Madison Square Garden as they completed the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.
OG Anunoby made the difference in the crucial moment, and now the Knicks are only 1 victory away from winning their 1st NBA championship since 1973. New York beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 after being down 29 points before that.
Brown challenged Anunoby during the pause to be more active on offense, and that’s exactly what happened in the 2nd half that allow Knicks to make the unthinkable and win after a 29-point deficit.
“Without a doubt, sometimes you need luck,” Brown admitted. “That’s how it is both in life and in sports. But you can also make your luck, too.”
The past record for the biggest comeback in the NBA Finals history was made by the Celtics when they beat the Lakers in Game 4 in 2008 after a 24-point deficit.
San Antonio shot just 20% in the 2nd half after finishing the 1st half with 60% shooting, and that was the biggest difference that allowed the Knicks to make the comeback and take a 3-1 lead in the championship series.
