Jose Mourinho will soon be officially revealed as the new boss of Real Madrid after Florentino Perez was re-elected as Los Blancos’ president until 2030.
The Portuguese head coach inked a 3-year contract in May to become the manager of the Royal club, but his deal would only be valid if Perez remained the president.
Florentino, who secured 65% of the vote, has been the president of Real Madrid since 2009 and announced the election during a surprising news conference in May.
“People trusted me to continue to be the president of Real Madrid and will do everything possible for the club to continue to win trophies,” Florentino revealed. “I’m still here, and I will defend this club.”
The Royal Club is owned entirely by members who pick the president, with his 1st presidential election in 20 years to feature an opponent – renewable energy magnate Enrique Riquelme.
However, Perez was the favorite to be re-elected, and that’s what happened as he even promised before the election that Real Madrid would make a club record offer for a world-class footballer if he continued to be the president.
