Payton: Denver can’t keep relying on comebacks

Denver Broncos manager Sean Payton looked relieved yesterday as his team rebounded from a dismal 1st half to score 30 points in the 2nd in a 30-26 triumph against the Los Angeles Rams at Empower Field at Mile High.

Denver (2-1), who was an NFL-record 11-2 in one-score matches in the past campaign, is now 2-0 in one-score matches in the current campaign. QB Bo Nix was behind center for his 10th come-from-behind, 4th-quarter victory since the beginning of the 2024 campaign – the most in the league during that period.

But Sean still doesn’t want such comebacks to happen so often.

“I’m happy with the way we responded after the first half,” the Broncos coach shared. “But we can’t continue like that, as that will cost us in bigger matches. It will be something that will be a huge problem later in the season if we don’t clean it up.”

Denver had 67 net yards of offense in the 1^st half on SNF, compared to 273 from the Los Angeles.

However, the Broncos quarterback was happy and claimed that a good team finish, and right now, these comebacks feel like Denver’s DNA.
