The Philadelphia team ran riot and deservedly won

The Philadelphia Phillies came out on top against the Miami Marlins in a convincing fashion 4-1 to kick-start their postseason run of their NL Wild Card series on Tuesday night.

Zack Wheeler was the star of the show as he brilliantly struck out 8, with Jose Alvarado preserving Philadelphia’s lead with a crucial strikeout.

Wheeler allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings, overall, as Craig Kimbrel worked a scoreless ninth for the save. Nick Castellanos added an RBI double in the eighth inning to edge the Phillies one step closer to a desired match-up with Atlanta.

“We’ve got to get back after it this year, and it’s a different team,” manager Rob Thomson said. “I believe it’s a better team, to be honest with you.”
