Spain defeated Belgium 2-1 at SoFi Stadium as the winning goal was scored after a huge error from reserve goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who replaced injured Thibaut Courtois earlier, and now La Roja will face France in the ½ finals of the World Cup.
After half an hour, Spain took the lead in the match after the ball ended in Fabian Ruiz in the box, and he scored the opening goal in the game.
However, Belgium found a way to answer before the end of the 1st half as Charles De Ketelaere header made the result 1-1 in the 41st minute.
Things went smoothly in the 2nd half, and neither team had huge chances to score. The key moment in the game came in the 71st minute when Thibaut Courtois had to leave the pitch after suffering an injury, and Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens replaced him.
And the Red Devils goalkeeper was the main factor for La Roja’s victory as his save ended up being an assist to Mikel Merino, and an Arsenal player, who entered the pitch only 2 minutes earlier, scored the winning goal in the clash after doing the same thing against Portugal in the 1/8 finals.
