Aberg is coming fresh of his first tournament win at the Omega European Masters and according to Europe’s captain the inclusion of the youngster is “a no brainer”.
Aberg is the first golfer to play in the Ryder Cup with zero major experience, but according to him that will give him extra motivation to perform.
“These are the events that you want to be a part of,” Aberg said. “You want to have that shot; you want to have that putt to get a point.
“And I’ve been fortunate to be a part of these team events with the amateur events, which is on a completely different level, and I understand that. I’m super excited to get to Rome.”
The Swede will be joined by fellow rookies Hojgaard, Straka and Bob MacIntyre in Europe’s team as they try to overwhelm the US.
